Enhance Your Look with Long-Lasting Cosmetic Tattoo and Permanent Makeup

Cosmetics products help to highlight features and correct any skin blemishes and imperfections on the face. But the thing is, most women lead busy lives which leaves them with little to no time to apply their own makeup. If you want to save time on your beauty routine, you might want to consider getting a cosmetic tattoo or permanent makeup.

So how do a cosmetic tattoo and permanent makeup work? Permanent cosmetic tattoo, or permanent makeup, is a procedure that uses a micropigmentation technique to apply tattoo pigment to the skin to give you a full-on and always ready makeup look. It adds color to enhance the natural look of your lashes, eyebrows, lips, and can even hide scars and help with hair loss problems.

How Cosmetic Tattoo and Permanent Makeup Is Used

Getting a cosmetic tattoo or permanent makeup can answer many of your aesthetic problems. Here are some of the common cosmetic applications of permanent tattoo and makeup:

  • Microblading - Eyebrow microblading, or eyebrow embroidery, is a permanent eyebrow technique to improve thinning eyebrows. Our aesthetician will use a tool with small needles to create fine eyebrow hair stroke, mimicking the effect of an eyebrow pencil, and fill in pigment underneath the skin.

  • Lip Liner and Color - A permanent lip liner improves lip contour by making them look fuller and plumper, while lip color or blushing is a permanent makeup technique that enhances your lip’s natural pinkish color and makes it seem as if you’re wearing a gloss.
  • Scalp Micropigmentation - If you have a receding hairline, bald spots or patches, or thinning hair, scalp micropigmentation can help by applying pigment that duplicates the look of your hair follicle. It creates an illusion of fuller and darker hair to cover any hair loss issue.
  • Scar Camouflage - Our permanent makeup artist at Evolve Med Spa can also insert pigments into scar tissues to improve their appearance and make them less noticeable by blending in with the surrounding skin color.
  • Areola Tattoo - This is a cosmetic tattooing technique performed on the chest area to create an image of the nipple and breasts. This is especially popular to empower breast cancer survivors.

FAQs About Cosmetic Tattoo and Permanent Makeup

Q: Is a cosmetic tattoo treatment painful?

A: Our staff at Evolve Med Spa take careful measures to ensure that each plastic surgery and cosmetic tattoo procedure is done with consideration for the client’s safety and comfort. A topical anesthetic or numbing cream may be applied to the treatment area to minimize pain and discomfort.

Q: What does recovery look like after a permanent makeup procedure?

A: Minimal pain, swelling, and tenderness are all common side effects after the procedure. You may be advised to use ice packs or topical ointments to aid in aftercare. Likewise, the treated area may appear darker during its healing process but it should improve within 4 to 6 weeks where the true color will become evident. As much as possible, you should avoid sun exposure to prevent the tattoo from fading early.

Q: Should you get Botox before or after microblading?

A: Botox is a cosmetic injectable that can be used to achieve a temporary brow lift. If you want to get Botox for better-looking eyebrows, you need to improve your eyebrow shape first through microblading. Afterward, our surgeon will be able to determine the proper injection sites without affecting the permanent brow placement.

Q: Can you remove a cosmetic tattoo?

A: Cosmetic tattoos can last anywhere between three to five years and they usually fade over time as the body metabolizes the pigment. If you want tattoo removal due to undesirable results, you may opt for a laser removal treatment.

Is Cosmetic Tattoo and Permanent Makeup The Right Pick For You?

Before signing up for any kind of cosmetic treatment, our staff at Evolve Med Spa will assess whether you are a right fit for a cosmetic tattoo or permanent makeup procedure. You are a good candidate for the treatment if:

You have overall good health.  A client who is in any form of medication or has an existing medical condition is advised against permanent makeup. During an initial consultation with our plastic surgeon, we’ll ask about your medical history and if you have any allergies to colors or pigments so we can safely proceed with the treatment.

  • You’re not prone to skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis. If you have a sensitive skin type or easily dry and flaking skin, you may want to rethink getting a cosmetic tattoo since the pigment may not settle smoothly in your skin. People with chronic skin problems like rosacea should also avoid permanent makeup.
  • You understand the treatment and willing to follow doctor’s instructions. For best results, you may be asked to visit the office again for a follow-up appointment to check if the area has healed properly. We’ll also give you a list of pre-treatment and aftercare instructions to minimize complications and make sure you get the optimal results.
